Hands on for Hope

The Hands on for Hope committee is dedicated to providing middle school aged children with volunteer opportunities supporting CHC’s mission. It is comprised of mothers and their children in 6th, 7th and 8th grade from various parts of Westchester. To date, the children have participated in a Thanksgiving dinner/coat distribution event and held a “have a party/give a party” event for 8th graders to collect comforters for kids residing at
The Pleasantville Cottages. These children will also play large roles in Recipe for Hope, food drives and other hands-on events.
Please contact Wendy Kleinman or Lisa Smith to learn more about how to get involved.
As part of the new CHC Hands on for Hope committee, 8th graders from all parts of Westchester got together Friday, February 28th and hosted a party for charity. The entrance fee for the party: a new comforter set. Over 200 bedding sets were collected and then distributed to children living in institutionalized foster care at the Pleasantville Cottage School. The comforters will hopefully give them a sense of individuality and a splash of color in a difficult environment to grow up in. The party was held at the Purchase Community House and more than 200 kids from Harrison, Purchase, Scarsdale, Chappaqua, Ardsley, Armonk, Rye Brook, Rye and Greenwich attended. There was a DJ and snacks and a great sense of community as all of the children joined together for this great cause.
