Here are some ways you can get involved:
Friends of Karen: Beth’s Buddies Homework Help Program. FOK is looking for kind, compassionate, reliable adults (college students also OK) who are willing to volunteer one hour a week for a three-month person to help a child (usually the sibling of a sick child) with homework, reading or school project, in the child’s home. This is not tutoring but just providing extra academic support.
Neighbor to Neighbor: Children ages 12+ are invited to come on Thursday afternoons or Saturday mornings to help stock the shelves and help food and clothing pantry clients collect their needed items
YMCA Camps of Greater NY: All Together Now Work Weekend, May 25-27. Teens and adults are invited to come and help get the camp ready for the summer. You can come for the entire weekend or just for a few hours. Assistance needed in gardening, painting, cleaning up camp grounds, organizing, etc.
